April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, but let’s not wait... This is the time to do whatever we can to raise more awareness toward this issue. Rebuilding Hope! The Sexual Assault Center for Pierce County is the only accredited sexual assault center in Pierce County and the only agency with a sex trafficking awareness and response program (AKA STRAP) in Pierce County as well. Rebuilding Hope has an annual fundraising event called “Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes” that they hold every April (this year it will be on the 28th) at the Washington State History Museum. It’s a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediation to sexualized violence against women. And, while sexual assault is no laughing matter, it’s important for men to know that yes, you guys can make a huge difference. To talk about Sexual Assault and the work of Rebuilding Hope! The Sexual Assault Center for Pierce County, we were recently joined by their Executive Director, Tasha Smith, and Community Advocate, Rachel Smith.
